"Advance, America!" by John Holston

In winds that leave man's spirit cold,
and a great shadow overhead,
they stood,
blood-stained,
with a ghostly red.
Too many,
and too far,
they seemed.
To be soon,
so grimly,
DEAD.
Night after mortal night,
TO HOLD!,
all the dreams they had.
They were so many,
and so young,
they seemed.
